Scope | Designed for application on blast cleaned steel This superfine metallic zinc pigmented coating provides protection to steel, by cathodic protection. Epilac Zinc Rich Primer is compatible with every type of painting system and is most commonly used as a prefabrication primer. It can be used even without overcoating to protect the inside of cargo tanks in oil – tankers and ships . It has been approved by Lloyds Register of Shipping as prefabrication primer. It has also been certified by All India Institute of hygiene and Public Health that the Primer does not pose any health hazard to the welders. This primer should not be used under highly acidic environments. |

Surface Preparation | Sand blasting to Sa 21/2 grade is necessary for optimum performance. If sand blasting is not possible manual cleaning to St-2 performance. |
Overcoating | Epilac Zinc Rich Primer may be overcoated with conventional paints after 12 hours and with Epilac Enamels after 16 hours. Finish paints in these systems are normally Epilac 881 or 874 or MIO Enamels or Epilac Pitch epoxy coating or RELY 892 Polyurethane Enamel. It can also be over coated with Chloro Rubber paints & conventional coatings. |
